We drove west along the Trans-Canada
amidst the Stoney Nakoda Nation,
A spur of the moment plan
without any hesitation.
Through the rolling foothills,
land so rugged and raw,
it was the scene in the distance
that captured our awe:
Jagged peaks all ablaze
against the sky so blue,
wonders never cease to amaze—
Such a heavenly hue!
Majestic and formidable
usually covered in snow,
the Rocky Mountains were formed
one hundred million years ago.
Most who view this national treasure
experience a breathtaking high,
A trip well worth making
for my daughter and I.
Nice one 🙂
Thank you! I never tire of that drive… seeing the mountains and feeling awestruck.
I’ve driven the very road you were on many times. Seeing the mountains grow and become more massive always fills me with awe.
If I traveled through the mountains forever, my ‘awe’ tank would never be full, it would just keep expanding.
Field, in B.C., has the Burgess Shale, which cranks my fascination level up even more.
Wow. I love the mountains.
Lots of great imagery in this poem!
Thank you!
